Santa’s Street Hockey Challenge
Santa's Street Hockey challenge is a free tournament to enter. The costs associated with this tournament are covered by Corporate and Community donations. Any excess money which is generated is donated to local charities. The tournament is played in a 3 on 3 format with no goalies. Because we believe that having fun is the most important part of sport, every player who participates will receive a tournament medal.
Santa's Street Hockey Challenge was born in 2013. Our first two years were played in the downtown core, before moving to our new home in Le Village. We have had 435 kids play in our tournament over our four years of existence.
Santa's Street Hockey Challenge is a grass roots, community partnership. We would be nothing without the assistance of the community. We would like to thank the groups who make this event possible:
We have been blessed to be able to provide funds to local charities/Schools. Some of our recipients have been: The Children's Christmas Fund, Koala Place, The United Way, Big Brothers Big Sisters, The Boys and Girls Club, Habitat for Humanity, St. Lawrence Intermediate School, Bishop MacDonell School and Eamers Corners School.
The Fifth annual Santa's Street Hockey Challenge will be held on Saturday November 18th, 2017. Montreal Road between McConnell Avenue and Baldwin Street will be closed to accommodate the event. Our School Challenge has continued to be the tournaments biggest draw. Schools (grade 1-8) compete for prizes of $1000.00 (first place), $750.00 (second place) and $500.00 (third place). The criteria for the competition are School Spirit, Sportsmanship, and the number of teams entered. We are looking forward to another fun event.
